Ceiling Fans, Stain & Tile

The cement man was scheduled to pour the skirt at the garage Monday, but it has rained the past two days. Steve told us today that Gary is still coming, just waiting on the weather.
In the mean time the electrician arrived today and installed the ceiling fans. He will be in and out over the next two weeks installing all the fixtures and outlets.
The painters are presently working on the floor molding and staircase balusters. They have quite a shop set-up out in the garage. They paint, sand, and paint again. Steve boarded up the garage to keep the wind and rain out of the space while they work. They did a wonderful job staining the study sliding doors....just perfect.

The tile men finally showed up this afternoon, they were supposed to be here Monday. They brought all the floor tile and will start laying tile in the morning.
While we were there this afternoon Steve received a call from Carroll's tile, they are ready to install the granite counter tops-tomorrow! Looks like everyone will be climbing over themselves at the house tomorrow. We like that....the more the merrier.

All Work Continues

With our delay due to the rain it was a welcome sight to see all the different crews back to work today. The plumbers were connecting the gas line to the fireplace in the study, the electrician was back running more cable, and the roofers picked up where they left before the rain.
The insulation work has been rescheduled for Monday. The builder wants to make sure the interior is completely dry before the insulation is installed.

Johnny, Johnny & Johnny

This is Johnny the electrician. He has been very patient with me and my many outlet changes. We have had Johnny the plumber and Johnny the painter also. Our builder knows lots of Johnny's. The electrician has been the only one working at the house this week up until today.
After lunch today we drove by the house and found the roofers had started laying the green metal roofing this morning. It was exciting to see the building process moving forward. I realize I say this often, but with the slow progress this week I was excited.
I asked the roofers if they plan to work tomorrow. I didn't get a big, yes, as I had hoped. They will complete the back today and the front next week. The front will take much more time due to the many cuts around the dormers.

Rock Work

The rock work continues around the perimeter of the house. The men completed the back of the house over the porch yesterday. Today they are working at the side of the house over the garage around the second chimney. Now all they have left is the rock on the front of the house.
We met the painters today. They started working on their prep work before painting the trim on the dormers. I told them of my concerns for them to be working up on the dormers without a safety rope. They agreed that it was pretty high on the roof and discussed tethering themselves around the waist through the upstairs dormers. I liked that idea.
We met with the electrician yesterday all morning going over every outlet and switch through out the house. He was very helpful and patient with us.

Lighting

The electrician came to the house yesterday. He installed the wiring needed on both of the downstairs porches. The framers can continue to install the soffits and ceiling material around the edge of the house and porches with this electrical work completed.
Our builder recommend recessed lighting for all the porches. He pointed out two benefits of recessed lighting, and I was sold. Birds can not build nests in them, and they will direct the light down onto the porch floor which is the best direction for lighting the large spaces.
We enjoyed looking at a couple of the homes in the official Parade of Homes yesterday. The homes had many wonderful bath and shower tile ideas I would like to copy. We have a couple more on our list to look at tomorrow.
