Lumber Delivery

City Lumber delivered our first two pallets of lumber this past Thursday. I was standing ready with my camera to photograph the event as the trucks lifted their large beds to drop the lumber on the ground. My camera kept beeping while I was trying to take pictures of the event. This beep meant I had forgotten to reinsert the photo disk back into my camera. Rats! With all the recent rain the builder quickly covered the lumber with plastic to keep it dry.

Today we learned the framing is schedule to begin on Tuesday. I will be sure to have the photo disk in my camera on Tuesday.

About the Builder

Steve Gaines of Gaines Quality Building was our choice of builders. He is pictured here in the red shirt and dark green jacket. Steve, his wife Debbie and their two college age girls have spent most of their lives here in Christoval. We had seen several of the homes Steve has built all of which were outstanding. He is well known for his integrity and talent as a custom builder. He builds about two new homes a year and has many on his waiting list. Our first meeting with Steve was in September 2006. His easy going calm disposition, concern in quoting an accurate estimate and eye for detail confirmed he was the builder we wanted. We had just started moving forward in our home building process when Steve was struck with a catastrophic illness. We are thankful to say six months later he has fully recovered and ready to move forward on our home. We think ourselves extremely fortuante to have been provided with such a talented builder and new neighbor too!

Lots of Progress!

We were surprised to see how much progress was made over this weekend. The crews were working around the clock with all the material sitting there ready to go. In this huge burst of activity the house is almost complete!!!

Our house will be very similar to this house pictured. The roof will be the green metal with a different pitch. The random rock and grout is very similar in color. The balcony, railing and pillars are the same. Our window placements are different than these and with only one garage on the right side where two are shown here. I think we have decided on a colored front door. Let us know by leaving a comment on this page if you vote for a dark green door, or a burgundy door color. We would appreciate your help. Thank you.
