Hole Digging Faries

I had mentioned to many of our friends how terribly hard it has been to dig holes at our place because we have more rock than dirt. We had been trying to dig eight holes at the entrance to plant some bushes before they start putting on leaves. I went to the property on Tuesday after our recent rain hoping the rain would provide for an easier day of digging our last two holes. I ran into the AEP men installing another electric pole at our entrance. The rain did provide for an easier hole to dig, but as with the other six holes I could only dig about eight inches before hitting solid rock. The AEP men noticed my frustration backed their equipment into our entrance and proceeded to dig my holes for me! Everyone here has been just as nice to us as these hardworking men.

Waiting on the Rain

You can't tell by this picture, but the rain is pouring down. We woke up early this morning to lightning, thunder and a tornado warning. Today we decided to dig up two small oak trees here in Camp Rock to transplant at the entrance of our property. With all this rain the ground is just right for that kind of job. With the added rain this week everything is starting to green up and look like spring.

No Activity

Above is another picture from yesterday's work after the crew completed trenching the foundation. Today we had no activity at the property due to last nights rain. The plumber can not start his work until the house pad dries out a little. We are expecting another rain storm tonight and a sunny forecast for the weekend. This should prepare the way for the plumber to start (we hope) at the beginning of the week. The AEP crew installed the third power pole after a long day of drilling through rock. With all certainty we can say our house is built upon a rock!

Flurry of Activity!

Today we had a flurry of activity at the property with the trenching crew and American Electric Power working in the same area at the same time. We loved seeing all the busyness today which made us feel we will really have a home here someday soon. It was windy today at the property, but no rain in the forecast until tonight. The foundation forms were set into place to prepare for the pouring of the foundation. The next step is for the plumber to come in and set the plumbing pipes into place.

Electric Poles

We arrived at the property this morning with great surprise we found American Electric Power on the job installing the first two of our three electric poles. They will install the third pole inside our property at the back of the house after the ground has a little more time to dry from all our recent rain. If they were to drive into our property today their large trucks would tear up our new road, and we don't want that! We thought the foundation trench might be dug today, but were informed by our builder that the ground was just too wet this morning and would be best to wait one more day. We are anticipating the foundation trench work to start tomorrow.

Rained Out

We went to the property today to meet with the American Electric Power Service Technician regarding our two electric pole placements. When we drove in we were surprised to find that the local Volunteer Fire Department had come in Sunday and burned two more of our brush piles for us, great work guys! We received three inches of rain since last night a much needed rain for our area. However this caused our foundation work to be postponed until tomorrow.

Rainy Day

It is a nice light rainy day here today just what the bluebonnets need. Elizabeth Ann (17) picked our first full bluebonnet to press in a book, we thought later she could place it in a picture frame as a remembrance of our first spring in Christoval. The foundation trench is scheduled to be dug tomorrow and the weather is to be rainy again.
